Her decade of experience in healthcare and education includes advanced practice at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, where she most recently practiced within the Center for Functional Medicine as well as teaching at CWRU Medical and Dental Schools. Lindsay’s guiding philosophy for personal wellness is – good health is a lifelong journey, not a destination.

PELVIC HEALTH

Pelvic floor dysfunction can occur following pregnancy and childbirth, as a result of abdominal or pelvic surgery, or for no apparent reason. It can also be associated with other conditions such as interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, and irritable bowel syndrome. This can directly cause or contribute to a number of different pain syndromes and conditions including pelvic pain, leaking, pelvic organ prolapse. As a part of the interdisciplinary team, pelvic floor therapy can help with management of symptoms through manual techniques, restoration of breathing patterns, and proper exercise guidance.

Pelvic floor therapy also helps with safe return to physical activity after pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Some of these Techniques include postural awareness/education, individualized stretching and strengthening programs, soft tissue mobilization/myofascial release, breathing exercises, bladder education and pelvic floor strengthening.

SUSAN FACEMIRE, PT, DPT, CPPC

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Born and raised in the desert, Susan attended University of Nevada Las Vegas where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Science in Kinesiology. During that time she also found her love for physical therapy through working as a technician in an outpatient orthopedic clinic and also found running. She completed her first half marathon, several 5 and10Ks and triathlons.

After graduating, she packed up and headed east, landing in Ohio at Walsh University where she continued her studies working towards her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. During her time at Walsh she discovered the specialty field of Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy and fell in love from the start, knowing that was the population she wanted to serve. Through pregnancy, postpartum and beyond there is a lack of resources and services available to women to educate and empower them during these changing times physically, mentally and emotionally. Susan works to bridge the gap working with an interdisciplinary and holistic approach to guide women through their journeys including pregnancy and postpartum wellness care, physical therapy to treat common but NOT normal issues such as leaking, prolapse, diastasis associated with pregnancy/postpartum, pelvic pain, pain with intercourse and other issues that limit a woman’s ability to do things they love.

When she isn’t in the clinic, she loves staying active with running, spending time with her family, her husband Steve and two children Maverick and Evelyn. As a family, they love to camp at their camper down in Loudonville.

LISA LOVELESS, OTR/L

PELVIC FLOOR HEALTH SPECIALIST

Hi there! My name is Lisa Loveless and I have had the pleasure and honor to be an Occupational Therapist for many years now… after 20 it’s time to stop counting or I will show my age, right?

I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of patients from neonates, to school-aged children, to older adults striving to age in place. I began my learning as a Buckeye at The Ohio State University (do not worry, I am not going to break out my O-H-I-O chants here), and during the course of my career, I have had the good fortune to work for several of Northeastern Ohio’s highly acclaimed hospital systems as well as several small private companies.

In the back of my mind, however, something was missing. I was aware that there was, and is, an underserved population of women, men, and transgender people that deal with personal health issues without options for treatment.

Health, wellness, and activity have always been an important and integral part of my own life. As an active person, I am very aware of how injuries or bodily limitations can prevent us from doing what we love to do. Fear of leaking, pelvic pain, etc., can limit us in our performance of daily tasks and/or achieving our goals (i.e. picking up our kids, carrying that bag of dog food, participating in that exercise class, enjoying sex, etc.).

When we are limited by our bodies to perform physically, you know what else is affected….yep you got it…OUR MIND! Personally, when I can’t lift weights, run, or bike because of injury or other reasons, my attitude suffers. My mental clarity is affected and most importantly my “happy factor” dissipates.

THIS is why I have switched gears and transitioned my passion of providing Occupational Therapy into the world of pelvic health. As an Occupational Therapist, I am well-trained and equipped to focus on the whole person… the biological being, the psychological being, and the social being. I want to work with you collaboratively.

We will establish goals together and we will work together, so that you are fully and completely able to participate in your daily living tasks of work, play, and leisure.

I want to help you regain your physical strength, your mental strength, and your “Happy Factor”.

I look forward to meeting with each and every one of you that comes through our doors. I am so excited to work with you on your journey toward wellness.
